VAIN 1st stop – high street – after finding some great aviator styles this super soft one (see above) stood out for me at Zara – VAIN are loving the massive collar and the 39.99 price tag – we cha’chingged all the way to the cash point. Other winners were from River Island (which has now sold out online and a H&M beauty for a surprising £25 quid!

Next Vintage. If your willing to take the time to dry clean you can get a MAJOR bargain – I picked up this coat for £15 and its real sheepskin!!! and finally, the classic Top Gun aviator picked up in a vintage shop in Convent Garden – £45, real sheepskin and weighs a tonne (perfect for the sharp British winter)

You don’t have to have bottomless pockets to embrace the seasons mega trend without faking it.

VAIN have had their eagle eyes on the seasons most coveted shoe for a while now as this trend can often seem to go both ways.

After trawling the high street for the PERFECT hiker boot – one which balances chunky (both in appearance and heel density for comfort – they are walking boots afterall!), fierce fastening (metal eyelets to be specific) and tractor soles (to really embrace the trend) – enter DUNE.

VAIN’s jaw dropped to the ground when these boots rung in at the till at £125! Bang on trend, totally affordable AND practical for hiking round London in. The perfect pay day treat – VAIN says ‘BUY THESE NOW‘ what more could a gal want?

Her royal highness directed and shot Miu Miu’s A/W’10 ‘faces’ Gina Lapina, Lindsey Wixson, Siri Tollerød, and Daphne Groeneveld after offering to shoot…wait for it…..for FREE! The ‘not-so-material’ girl showed the models some moves and hey presto! an A.M.A.Z.I.N.G campaign video (and lots of free press for it!)

Every pair are a statement in themselves and you would expect them to retail outside of the bank balance reach but no! they are high fashion and totally affordable.

It is a pay packet mission to purchase at least three pairs of this shortlist – the top row being  priority. What better way to see in the forth coming fashion week than with a pair of F.I.E.R.C.E heels.

VAIN is feeling guilty that the site has been somewhat neglected the last month…like, massively! VAIN wanted to justify the reasoning behind this and it is all  very simple – work.

For the last few months the focus has been on assisting at a certain world wide fashion magazine in an attempt to progress in ones career. My role was to help organize the fashion shoots i.e. models, hair, make-up, photographers etc , add these to location shoots and working on an anniversary issue equals LONG hours.

Don’t get me wrong, VAIN is slaving to work in the fashion magazine industry and not afraid of hard work. So, i thought as from tomorrow – to keep VAIN fresh each day, this site will act as a way to communicate my day-to-day musings of trying to succeed in the fashion industry.

Read as VAIN documents everthing in the run up to fashion week and the chaos that will follow whilst working in the fashion department.

Our extensive love affair starts with Dolce & Gabbana -  trashy meet chic is most defiantly in VAIN’s vocabulary and never written quite so poetically than on this runway. Mulberry has got us in a tizz – desperate to get our fix with that printed Bayswater…drool!

Now, girls spend effort filled hours of  plucking to sculpt the perfect arch of the brow – from penciled heavy to penciled thin, bleached out or flecked with bold colour but this…the mono – really?

The hippy within screams YES! let the hair flow, but, sorry Mr Galliano this is one beauty trend VAIN will be bypassing.
